My experience with FVL 1

I remembered the first day of the project, When I was drawing a line bank and making dots, I thought to myself, how is the a learning? How will this help me? It’s just a bunch of dots, isn’t it? However through the course of the project I came to realise how a single dot can be transformed into something amazing and change the entire way in which I viewed that dot. I never thought I’ll see squares in circles and circles in square, but this activity greatly widened my perspective

This was the work I did on day 1, we had to make lines with dots. The reason why this is one my favourite art works is because it was at this point that Kishor sir turned to Josh sir and said sir, 'Rashika pagal ban raha hai'. The way the shape looks is something I find really aesthetically pleasing and it helped me learn the correct way of placing the dots which provided me with the foundation for the future projects

The task was to represent clouds with dots. This was my favourite representation of cloud. It is simple, there is no crazy pattern or tones, just variations in outlines, yet it conveys the idea of lightness.

When given the task of representing lines with squares and rectangles, I made this grid that is universally applicable to all the lines. I was really appreciate for my out of box thinking, which made this one of my favourite works.

When asked to represent confusion with squares and rectangles, I made an impossible square. This square though extremely clear and understandable, still creates confusion in the mind of the person looking at it due to its never ending nature. This was my unique take on confusion

This was the last task, depicting shapes through textures, though I never got to show it to the faculty I really liked the final result.

DDD is something that I have grown to love over time, though I am still not perfect and struggle to make quick sketches, I am willing to work and improve upon my work

This was the least affective drawing that I made. This was one of my first sketches and I believe I could have done better in terms of making multiple views as a gave up on the object after 3 sketched

This was my most affective drawing. While making this I understood the importance of capture multiple perspectives and like Kishor sir said I feel in love with the object and expressed my aashiqui through art

GLOSSARY

Personally I work best by sharing and learning from others, which made me really appreciative of the approach adopted by Kishor and Josh sir. Being able to showcase my artwork right at the spot, getting a feedback and working to improve it was a quick and effective way of learning that also helped me finish almost all my work within the class hours itself. As students we are often used to listening to briefs and following instructions to the T . But The way they allowed us to be free and express our creativity really helped me to think outside the box. There were no briefs, no instructions, no guidelines, just the push to become crazy

I think if I had to describe my learning’s from this project it would be really difficult, because even though I can’t not think of any specific learning to point out, it changed my perspective in an organic manner. Now I am naturally inclined to see different shapes in a new way, just the other day while playing with my cat I look at a circular ball and the first thing that came to my mind was how I could see two Triangles in it. And this new perspective is what I believe would give a new taste to everything I made in future. I will take this new approach towards shape ahead with me and apply to the future projects, in my pursuit to become a better and a more sensitive designer.
