CONCLUDING REFLECTION

Capstone 2021 was an eventful journey, or rather I say a roller coaster ride. I believe that capstone was the perfect culmination of foundation as it involved the application of everything we had learned so far. The research technique that we acquired from C&C, JoB and GAD guided us through the detailed study. DDD came back to us In the form of observational studies. The countless thinking tools and stakeholder mapping came to our aid during the art blocks. Our knowledge of material that we gained during Transform and F2F played a significant roll in our explorations. But most importantly the emphasis by our teachers to have faith in the process was tested in this 7 week long project. I am always the kind who stays in a hurry to finish things, I always have to stick to the plan and have control over the situation. For me letting go of this control was the most difficult thing I have ever had to to do but when I achieved it, I felt zen. I learned that it’s okay to follow your creative instincts instead of a schedule. This indeed was my key learning from capstone. I still think that in order to be a sensitive designer I would have to be more reflective and emotional in my approach, which is something that I need to work more on. But I believe that in the future I could adopt this approach from the very beginning and incorporate more emotions and reflections within my work.
